The heating oil we deliver to your home includes Red Thunder, an additive that helps your heating system in multiple ways.
Cleaning: Red Thunder has a cleaning agent that effectively dissolves accumulated carbon, varnish and other chemical deposits from your burner nozzles and pumps, allowing your oil burner to properly atomize the oil into a fine mist with a spray pattern that allows for optimal combustion and heat conversion. By doing so, it enhances the efficiency of your oil burner and helps reduce heating fuel costs.
Water elimination: Water is an enemy of your oil tank and heating system. When condensation builds up on the bare walls inside your tank, it drips down into the oil. This can start the development of bacteria and sediment that corrodes your tank from the inside out, clogs your oil filter, causes rust inside your heating system and damages the supply line. Red Thunder eliminates that water through emulsification.
Anti-gelling: During extreme cold, heating oil can thicken, a condition known as gelling. When gelling occurs, it is harder for the heating oil to move through the supply lines, clogging them and potentially causing the heating system to shut down. Red Thunder contains an anti-gelling agent that lowers the gelling point by 25 degrees, helping to keep your heating oil flowing during visits from the polar vortex.
Anti-oxidation: Red Thunder includes a specialized oxidation reducer tailored to home heating oil. Oxidation can compromise fuel stability, resulting in breakdown and decreased combustibility, which makes burning more difficult. By slowing oxidation, you can maximize energy savings and enhance your system’s efficiency by as much as 5%. Sludge dissolver: Sludge can cause big problems for your heating oil tank and your heating system. Today’s oil is more unstable, and many older tanks may accumulate sludge that has settled at the bottom over time. Red Thunder’s sludge-dissolving agents effectively break down these molecular chains, enabling you to extract maximum Btu’s from your oil while keeping your tank in excellent condition. Innovations, such as ultra-low-sulfur heating oil (ULSHO), have achieved an impressive 97% reduction in emissions compared to conventional heating oil. We only deliver ULSHO, as required by Pennsylvania law.
Additionally, advancements in biodiesels made from sustainable materials like plant oils and algae have achieved remarkable progress. When combined with ULSHO, these create Bioheat® fuel, which not only reduces emissions even more, but also minimizes wear on your heating system.
